However, when panels get very dirty — perhaps in an agricultural area or location that suffers from pollution — the output decline can be greater than 20 percent. How much does it cost to have your solar panels cleaned?

This will depend on the size of the array but as a general rule of thumb from about £5 per panel, reducing for bigger arrays. You can request a free cleaning quote from us in minutes.

How often should solar panels be cleaned?

Our experience is that residential solar arrays require an annual or even a bi-annual clean, with agricultural, city and coastal PV systems being the dirtiest, therefore requiring a more frequent cleaning schedule.
Many clients contact us before their clean is due because they are experiencing a drop in output due to their systems environment, especially following long periods of dry weather. 

How do you know if your solar panels need cleaning?

Visually you will notice them getting dirty, but most likely you will see a drop off in power output. Even panels that have a thin film of dust experience a significant drop in output.  Very dirty solar panels should be cleaned as soon as possible. 

What happens if you don’t clean your solar panels?

Put simply, you will loose money. Lower output and efficiency = less power generated.
